I’ve spent years watching my children compete in various athletic endeavors. I’ve also enjoyed witnessing the development of their other talents, beyond the field-of-play.  Such as their artistic and musical talents, to name only two.

They are, all three of them, extremely talented individuals!

As I reflect on all of these experiences, there is one – more recently at least – that stands out above the others.  It stands out because it relates directly to what I do as a pastor and the vision/mission of the church I serve.

That’s right!  Head coach of the newly crowned national champion Clemson Tigers, told the nation, after having previously telling his team – repeatedly – that it’s love that wins!

For Dabo, love was the key to the final – and classic – moments of the championship game.

A game the Tigers won as time ran out.

In Vero Beach, where I live, high school football is a weekly tradition. For some, we might even call it a ritual.

We usually buy four season tickets and attend most of the home games. The team is fun to watch. Coach Jankowski and his staff do a stellar job (in my opinion) getting the team ready to play every Friday night: under the lights!
