Disruptive and Dynamic Process of Spiritual Formation

When I awakened to and accepted this disruptive and dynamic process of spiritual formation, I then began to establish it as a solid foundation for life and ministry.

After eight years (really more) of traveling this road, I am becoming convinced that the disruptive and dynamic process of spiritual formation ought to be the mark of every ministry.  Particularly any ministry desiring to seek the Kingdom of God in Christ and invite others to do the same!

God’s Kingdom has come (already begun) with the birth, death, and resurrection of Christ. This is an indisputable biblical fact.

It’s also true that his kingdom rule continues to be contested!  The powers that once ran and sought to ruin his good world through sin and shame continue to exert notable force.

Even as the often slow but certain Kingdom-coming continues to make its presence known!

You know when you have been in the company of someone who listens.  Simply being around them is a blessing of immense and vast depth.  It’s as if you’ve been refreshed. Washed by cool spring waters of nourishing clarity.   To hear and respond is both fundamentally relational and vitally human.  They are the signature affections of creation and the singular hope of humankind.

They are affections we would do well to nurture today!  Indeed, those who have gone before us found that nurturing an affection for hearing and responding developed …

Four Reasons Why I Want A ‘Sloppy Wet Kiss’ or No Kiss at All!

One of my favorite modern worship songs is called How He Loves Us (here, https://youtu.be/TCunuL58odQ?list=RDTCunuL58odQ).  Written by John Mark McMillian, the version I prefer is performed by the David Crowder Band.

The version I prefer no longer exists. Marched to the unimaginative court of the Christian judge and jury, it has been – tragically – executed. The execution was held in the basketball hooped auditoriums and multipurpose rooms throughout the land; otherwise known as the Christian Worship Center.

The criminal in this shameless execution is one phrase,
