In Consumption, Formation, Freedom from Porn, Parenting, Pornography by BizgaineyLeave a Comment

A Father’s Confession: How Instagram Made Me Feel Like a Fool Warning: Explicit Content Ahead!  The content of this post deals directly with pornography and the immediate access our children have to it through social media apps.  As such, the language and specific wording is more explicit than many of my posts. I believe, firmly, this is a message that must be voiced, heard, and shared.   I do, however, recognize that many may find it offensive.  It’s not my intent to offend, but to inform.  I plan on writing a…

In Advent, Brokenness, Christmas, Community, Desire, Formation, Habits, Pornography by Bizgainey2 Comments

This time of year – the Thanksgiving through mid-January holiday season (because the college bowl season has become its own holiday) –  is a particularly vibrant season for many of us.

Extended holiday seasons provide space to celebrate life and the loved ones with whom we live.  They are dotted with parties, engagements, gift – giving, year-end bonuses, festive feasts, etc.

While Holidays can offer joy and celebration, they also produce emotions ranging from anxiety and anger to stress and depression.  Many of these negative emotions are kept at bay …

I Love My Wife AND Friday Night Lights!!

In Football, Male and Female Relationships and Roles in Marriage, Marriage, Parenting, Pornography, Vero Beach Fighting Indians by BizgaineyLeave a Comment

In Vero Beach, where I live, high school football is a weekly tradition. For some, we might even call it a ritual.

We usually buy four season tickets and attend most of the home games. The team is fun to watch. Coach Jankowski and his staff do a stellar job (in my opinion) getting the team ready to play every Friday night: under the lights!

This year, our middle child is a rising freshman. He loves football.  He cannot wait to put on the pads and play ball for the …

Every Click Claims Another Captive!

In Addictions, Brokenness, Pornography, Uncategorized by Bizgainey5 Comments

And there will no longer be any night; and they will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign forever and ever.

No need for the light of a lamp?

Light without end?  Unending Illumination.

Not today.

Tomorrow?  Likely, no.

Perhaps next year, in ten years, 100 years, who knows?

One day, however, the need for artificial light will end.  One who is light will illumine all.

I long for that day.…

Calling All Parents: Porn Watch Protocol May Be A “Modern Family” Necessity

In Marriage, Pornography, Uncategorized by Bizgainey2 Comments

Melissa and I are parents of two boys and a girl, all three well into the young adolescent season of life. We have, as a result, learned and experienced much as it relates to what we – in our home – have dubbed “Porn Watch Protocol.” Porn Watch Protocol (PWP) is our catch phrase (not a product for purchase) for an alertness which orients us toward helping our children guard and protect the treasures of their heart.

The term protocol is intentional.  In our home protocol is an …

Everyone is Drunk on Something!

In Uncategorized by Bizgainey8 Comments

We are all drunk on something.  We are all drunk on someone.  For nearly two decades of my young life, I was drunk on pornography; addicted to the high of false love and half esteem.  The power of porn’s addictive magnet has decreased significantly.  Though porn’s magnetic force is and may always be present, its power is wonderfully diminished; it’s grip surprisingly broken.  Porn’s gravitational pull has been disrupted in the most unlikely of ways.

Others caught in porn’s addictive grip (or any addictive grip for that matter) have asked …
